As you all know, I have a facebook page, which means I have a personal account, too. That’s all perfectly well and good, but a few months back I had some issues. Someone decided it would be funny to report a lot of my pictures (specifically the ones to do with my writing), and I almost ended up losing the whole account. Since then my personal page has been locked down on private, so the only people on there are those who I know personally. That includes my close friends, family, and those people I know from overseas who I only get to talk to on Facebook.
Now, you might be wondering what all this means, and that is where it gets slightly complicated. Since my facebook page took off, I’ve been getting a lot of friend requests from fellow writers. Now, I am sure you are all wonderful people, in fact, I know you are, but here’s the thing; my personal facebook account is just that, it’s personal. It’s all me, all the time, and it’s where I talk to my friends and mess about with them. It’s also where all my personal pictures are, the ones of my family BBQs and my husband. It’s all set to private because that is just how I want it. It’s like my house in my street. I don’t mind going down the street and saying hi to people, but I don’t want them knocking on my door telling me what they had for dinner.
So feel free to talk to me on twitter and on my facebook page, in fact, I would love to hear from you, even if it is just to say hi. And please don’t be offended if you do send me a friend request on facebook and it gets ignored and deleted. It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s just that there’s a ‘work’ me who sits around killing people (characters, honest) for a living, and then there’s the ‘home’ me who wants to switch off and catch up with family and friends.
